Karen

Karen Vaughan is from a small town in Ohio. She felt the calling to come to Honduras after she had made her first visit in April 2005 with a TORCH group. Those 10 days she spent her in Honduras changed her in more ways than she can even begin to explain.

After returning home she just could not keep focused on anything and was thinking continually about Honduras. Her heart was heavy and was unsure of what to do. With in a month of being home Jen Wright knew of the heavy heart she had for Honduras and told her to start praying because there was an opportunity to come and open up a childrens home. At that point Karen was thinking WHAT......ME? Although she prayed, cried, prayed, and cried some more, within two months of being home she had made the choice to move to Honduras to start a children's home with Jen and made Honduras her home in October 2005.

In April 2008, Karen married Dorian Guido. Dorian is the minister of the church here in Santa Ana. He also takes on many tasks here at Casa de Esperanza. In addition to helping with business aspects and all the errands and demands of running the home, he is also a father figure to the children which has had a wonderful impact on their lives.
